Founded on the diamond fields of South Africa in 1947 by patriarch Barney Laub — Rand Diamonds established a reputation for impeccable quality, integrity, and business ethics. From Laub’s high standard of excellence, Rand Diamonds became one of a select number of companies chosen more than sixty years ago to acquire rough diamonds for cutting and polishing, directly from the source. Today we continue as the source of polished diamonds for some of the most prestigious retail stores in the world, discreetly supplying them with the finest diamonds to their exacting standards and specification from our US corporation, Rand Diamonds Inc. It is this heritage and market position that is the foundation of Defined Value Diamonds (DVDs) — our newest innovation.
Innovation born from a wealth of experience. The result of our seven decades of operating diamond-works in Johannesburg, South Africa, and Gaborone, Botswana, and of buying, cutting, polishing, and selling the highest quality diamonds, has put us in the unique position to be at the forefront of diamond innovation today.
Defined Value Diamonds (DVDs). The ultimate tangible global asset. We’ve taken the oldest form of wealth known to humankind and brought it into the 21st century. By utilizing our knowledge and cutting edge analytic tools, we can objectively define to a set standard the four key elements that make up a diamond’s value. We then hand select for global demand and liquidity.
Defined Value Diamonds have taken the guesswork out of diamond valuation and purchasing.
Our position at the wellhead of the diamond market makes it possible for us to now offer Defined Value Diamonds (DVDs) to private individuals — at the Polished Trade Price (PTP) — the same market price that high-end retailers purchase their fine diamonds from us. Globally, the PTP for each diamond of the quality and type used for a DVD is the same. That’s because DVD diamonds are defined and polished to a standard that not only removes variables for interpretation such as color and purity — but most importantly cut.
Hand selected and in demand, globally. Now available in an especially designed, and secure disc. Our experience, positioning, and knowledge enable us to hand select diamonds of the types with a track record of being in constant global demand, with consistent value appreciation and good liquidity. All Defined Value Diamonds (DVDs) are packaged in a beautifully designed stainless steel disc or a light weight, non-metallic disc— a secure, portable, and discreet form of concentrated wealth you physically possess and can depend on anywhere in the world.
The DVD Standard. Beyond the GIA. The first step to qualify as a DVD is certification by the GIA, the non-profit laboratory established in 1931 that set the standards by which all the best diamonds are measured to this day. More importantly, no diamond can ever qualify to become a DVD unless its cut is rated Triple Excellent by the GIA. Then, our own internal quality control takes GIA’s standards one step further, grading each diamond to our own tighter tolerances ensuring that there is no question as to the characteristics of the diamonds we sell — now and in the future. Finally, every DVD is hand-selected to be of the type that decades of sales data and our experience indicate will continue to be in constant global demand for good liquidity.
Our Resale Promise. Your guarantee. Whether your goal is to purchase Defined Value Diamonds (DVDs) to gift them to important people in your life, as a safety net against the unknown or for jewelry, the DVDs you purchase from Rand are of definable quality and sold to you at the Polished Trade Price (PTP). Should you wish to sell your DVDs at a later date, we offer you our unique Resale Promise.
